Dan 1:21 says, "and Daniel continued until the first year of Cyrus the king." Then, Dan 10:1 says, "In the third year of Cyrus the king of Persia a word was revealed to Daniel, who was named Belteshazzar."
Based upon the first refererce, Daniel lived in captivity over 70 years (from his captivity in the beginning of the captivity of Israrel until the first return of the people of Israel from captivity to Jerusalem). And based upon the second reference, he lived in captivity at least until the third year of Cyrus when he was very old. Daniel himself never said that he ever returned back to Jerusalem and no history material mentions that, as my brief research on this issue shows. If he ever returned to Jesusalem, don't you think that he himself would have mentioned it in his book? |
